FAITH FRIENDS
In FAITH FRIENDS we strive to offer an atmosphere where individuals with physical and developmental differences can experience a loving and caring environment while learning about God’s Word and serving within the Body of Christ to each one’s ability. In learning to serve, we participate in the widow’s ministry, the Samaritan’s Purse ministry, our Church musical programs, and at Christmas we visit and sing to those in private living facilities. Faith Friends meets for Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. A Bible based lesson from the “252 basics” Group curriculum is sculpted to engage each student by sharpening memory skills, providing hands on activities, and focusing on a Bible verse and a character trait each month. In addition to our lesson, we enjoy singing, a story or season craft, a time focused on prayer, and a small snack. At 10:30 a.m. we join Children’s Church with our typical peers where the story is often reiterated but always in a different form to assure we have presented the word of Christ in as many possible ways or we provide a Respite hour for those that can't handle the noise or crowd size of children's church. Beginning with 1st grade, individuals that have a genuine love and concern for those with physical and developmental challenges assist as helpers (we call them "buddies") in our Special Needs Ministry. Our Faith Friends buddy program has been an overflowing blessing to those who come to serve, as well as to the Faith Friend being helped. Our Faith Friends teachers carry the burden to share the gospel with ALL because we trust and believe Psalm 139:14 – “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” If you would like more information about this ministry, contact Christy Herrera 919-999-8406 or email at Christyherrera@faith-baptist.com |
